MySpace Could Kill YourRadio
A new partnership between Cingular Wireless and MySpace will put mobile recording studios in the hands of anyone carrying a cellphone. The connection to MySpace will create thousands of virtual concert venues.

The program is currently in beta with 75 unsigned MySpace bands. Each will be guided through an online process of licensing their materials, uploading audio samples to ensure its originality, and then production of 30-second clips that will be available as downloadable ringtones for other Cingular users.

While the Radio and Recording industry rolls it collective zombie-eyes skyward, the rest of know just how small the steps are from downloadable ringtone to downloadable single to cellular symphonies.
